A Library Secret from Matt at the Reference Desk:
“If you haven’t heard already, RefWorks is a great tool to use when writing research papers and for making citations. It is pretty easy to use once you get the basics down and if you haven’t used it before, I would recommend taking a RefWorks class with Kelly Jenks. She knows just about everything that RefWorks can do and can answer any questions regarding it. She has classes a couple times a week [during most of the school year] and they are extremely helpful!”
There aren’t any more scheduled RefWorks training sessions for this semester, but Kelly Jenks is happy to take your questions and work with you one-on-one. Contact the Reference Desk for more info: refdesk@gonzaga.edu, 509-313-5931.

A Library Secret from Jackie at the Reference Desk:
“Lots of people need help finding a book with the call number because the call number system can be tricky to master. Some people are a little embarrassed about asking at first – maybe because they think they should know how or that it is easy to figure out – but people walk away and try for a little while and then come back and ask for help all the time!”
Moral of the story: we are here to help you!

Shhh! A Secret from a Library Student Employee April 15, 2009

We love our library student employees! They know all about the inner-workings of the library, and they are breaking their silence to share their secrets. Here’s one from Zoe at Reference:
“If you do not need a physical print out of a document I would highly recommend the scan and send method instead of the copy method on the Printer. Not very many students know about this trick, but you are able to scan documents and send them to your email address for FREE. It is especially good if you need to copy pages out of a reference book, reserved item, or an article out of a periodical that you can not check out, and hey you’re saving Trees.”
