Foley Services

We learned about the resources that are available to students in the library. We also learned how to look up books in and outside the Foley library center.   Foley Library has many services available to students, which are located on the first floor.  These services include inter-library loan, book catalogue, wiki library, and the outside library services.  When looking up a book, go to catalogue quick search and click ‘go’ to search for books. After results come up, click on book of your choice, and look for the Call number. The LC call system is utilized by most academic libraries.

Class Matters

If Santa Rosa City Schools eliminates another seven librarian positions, saving the district $540,000 a year, the middle school campus library services will be reduced to a shell of what they are now.  The board will consider cutting five days from the academic school year, increasing class sizes, cutting athletics by 25%, even closing a few small high school campuses.

There is not enough tax revenue to fund the library services and the salary of the librarians at Santa Rose Middle School.  American people are not willing to pay more taxes because they would rather be spending money on $3000 suits, BMW’s, and cell phones.  Librarian’s purpose is to help spread knowledge and facilitate social justice and we are depleting resources on our side and theirs.  Without the foundation of knowledge that librarians can provide, we will be limiting the next generation ability to gain knowledge, and in turn are creating a viscous cycle of lack of knowledge.
