Foley Library Services
Atrium: the glass-enclosed area just within the main doors of Foley. The library and the study lounge are both accessible through the atrium, which is open and accessible 24 hours a day. The library doors inside the atrium are locked when the library is closed and typically fifteen minutes prior to closing the library each night. There is a campus phone available for student use in the atrium near the doors to the study lounge. The Knights and Setons Escort Desk is also in the atrium, as well as the library discard (“give away”) cart, a kiosk where you can leave messages on dry-erase boards, a Gonzaga Bulletin newsstand, and tables and chairs for studying, eating or meeting with friends. In addition to all those incredible attributes, it echoes. What a plus huh?

Study Lounge: is located on the first floor of Foley, just inside the front doors of the atrium. The lounge is open and accessible everyday from 6am to 2am. It is a multi-purpose area for student, faculty, and staff use. The Writing Center is located in the study lounge, as are vending machines for office supplies, drinks, and snacks and a restroom. There are no food or cell phone restrictions in the lounge, as there are within the library

Writing Center: is located on the main floor of Foley Center, in the 24 Hour Study Lounge. It is accessible from within the Study Lounge.
Bathrooms: there are many bathrooms in Foley Center Library, with a guys and girls bathroom on each floor.

Green “Talking” Zones are for group studies and tend to have several large tables to study with friends.
• The atrium and study lounge are both apart of the green zone. Therefore, they are places where talking is acceptable.

S’more Education

Read the article here.

Libraries are a “level playing field” for people of all social classes.  This is the main point of the article stated above.

Class Matters showed us the value of education. Education enables one to move up in the social ladder of life. Education is needed for a successful lifestyle in all aspects, job, family, environment and health. Libraries provide the key to education. They provide opportunities for knowledge for all people, no matter their income or status. Education is needed for class mobility, libraries provide that education, hence forth libraries are the vessel of class mobility. Libraries are integral to the movement of equality to class. Libraries are the safety deposit box of education. They are the graham cracker to the marshmallow of education.
