Librarians Rock “Class Matters”

This article discusses how the Alice Springs library is hosting free events for children and families during the school holiday.

This article relates to social justice in Class Matters. Education is one of the key components of class. Many lower or working class families do not have the same educational opportunities as middle and upper class families. By offering free educational events, the library is helping working class families gain opportunities to  free education and fun activities for children. This is great because often working class families work longer hours and don’t have the time to do fun educational activities with their kids. Now they can go to the library which is a fun, safe, learning environment! What an awesome resource.

Downstairs Blog.

            Using online databases is easy by going to the website and typing in search criteria. Also, we learned what microforms were and the simple process of scanning and using the machinery. If you go to the Foley web page, and click on periodicals @ Foley you can search for any journals or articles with ultimate ease. If the article you are searching for is available in paper, you can get the call number and can search enthusiastically. When you click on an article, it can tell you where you can find it downstairs in the beautiful Foley Library or if it is available online.

            In the gorgeous computer lab, there are thirty-one sparkling PC’s all available for student use at any time! The computer lab can also be used to activate the SmartBoard or watch educational DVDs.  The transfer station can be used to plug in your PEN drive and print or edit or copy your work. The transfer stations are run on a different server so you can access those computers even when all the other servers are down.

            Downstairs in Foley Library is the ideal location for any sort of research or using periodicals or microforms. Go check it out NOW!
