We love our library student employees! They know all about the inner-workings of the library, and they are breaking their silence to share their secrets. Here’s one from Zoe at Reference:
“If you do not need a physical print out of a document I would highly recommend the scan and send method instead of the copy method on the Printer. Not very many students know about this trick, but you are able to scan documents and send them to your email address for FREE. It is especially good if you need to copy pages out of a reference book, reserved item, or an article out of a periodical that you can not check out, and hey you’re saving Trees.”

That’s a great tip, Zoe, thanks! It’s also important to know that the scan and send feature is on all of the library’s photocopier/printers. You don’t have to use the flatbed scanner that is on the lower level. In fact, the copier/printers are a lot faster than the flatbed scanner, and they are much easier to use! If you have a picture you want to scan and/or manipulate with Photoshop, that’s when you should use the flatbed scanner.
